Christmas Gift Drive

The members of the Eighth Ward VFD are excited to announce the "take-off" of our annual Christmas Gift Collection. Each year we request donations from the residents in our area to help Santa provide gifts for those families who may need assistance. Gifts are collected for children ages infant through 17 years. No Caption Charter Cable Bucket Truck Fire

Our firefighters responded at 6:36 am this morning to a vehicle fire on Highway 22 near the intersection of Highway 445. 9-1-1 alerted us that a large, work-style pickup truck was on fire and had solvents, batteries, and gasoline in it. Firefighters arrived in short time and discovered a fully involved Charter Cable Company bucket truck.

Dump Truck overturns and loses its load

A dump truck overturned and lost its load of dirt at the intersection of Highways 445 and 190 today at 11:53 am. Both highways were limited to one lane of traffic for over two hours. Firefighters treated the driver on scene prior to him being transported to North Oaks Hospital by Acadian Ambulance. Members of the Department participated in a Fire Prevention display hosted by the Yogi Bear Campground on Saturday, November 14th. Approximately 150 adults and children visited us in an hour. It was a fun time had by participants and firefighters as well.

Recent AVOIDABLE Motor Vehicle Accidents

We have responded to four motor vehicle accidents in the past two weeks that were COMPLETELY AVOIDABLE.

The first accident occurred at 12:14 am (Halloween night) at the intersection of CC Road and Highway 22 in Bedico. The vehicle pictured was the result of a hit-and-run. Eighth Ward VFD responded to a residential structure fire last night at 10:38pm in Robert. A distant neighbor just happened to walk outside, noticed the flames, and then alerted 9-1-1 that the house was fully involved. Thankfully no one was at home at the time of the fire.
